Today I want to share some of the wedding photography of my assistant, Renee, from our recent wedding in Cleveland of Dave and Ashlee. I know that I don’t say it enough, but I am proud of the progress that Renee has made over the last three plus years she has been with me. When Renee first started assisting me, I had to teach her everything (which is my preference) from how to set the camera to where to place the lenses in my bag. I tell everyone that she was my little ball of clay to be molded (bwahahahaha!) Her progress is evident in her work; in the fact that I can trust her to do any job that I ask of her and that she can (mostly) accept my constructive criticism (which is saying a lot). Again, I am very proud of her, I appreciate her more than I can say and love her as a friend. Here are a few images from Dave and Ashlee’s wedding in Cleveland, captured by Renee. Every image that you see (except for Ashlee getting dressed) was set up by Renee and, other than some basic color and exposure correction, there has been ZERO post production work on these images. Eli and Karlee’s Cincinnati Wedding – cincinnati wedding photographers, cleveland wedding photographers
Being a Cleveland wedding photographer, it is nice to sometimes have the opportunity to participate in an out of town wedding. On Sunday, I had the opportunity to photograph Eli and Karlee’s wedding in Cincinnati. The wedding and reception took place at Karlee’s uncle’s farm. The rural setting was great. As I said, being a Cleveland wedding photographer, I am used to a more urban setting, so the wide open country space was a fantastic change of pace for me. The day was a bit chilly and windy, which posed a challenge, especially for the wedding party, but all went perfectly. Eli and Karlee were just perfect. Kind, accommodating and just a pleasure to work with. I want to thank them, their families and their wedding party for being so awesome. This is part one of a two part blog post. There are so many awesome images that I had to break them up into two separate blog posts! Be sure to leave Eli and Karlee a comment below, and remember to “Like” Spencer Photography Inc. on Facebook.
Dave and Ashlee’s Cleveland engagement session
As a Cleveland wedding photographer, one of the things that I like to do with my wedding clients is have a photography session with them before their wedding day (I usually insist on one). If my clients wish to have more than one engagement session I will do it and it is included in our wedding photography service. The better prepared they are for their wedding day, the better they will DO on their wedding day. This was Dave and Ashlee’s second session before their May wedding in Cleveland and reception at Michaud’s in Strongsville. I have to say, they are definitely ready for their wedding day. Here are a few images from the session. Be sure to leave them a comment, below, and remember to “Like” Spencer Photography Inc. on Facebook.
Winter Photography Workshop – cleveland wedding photographers
Yesterday, I met up with a great bunch of professional photographers in Utica, Ohio to share what I have learned as a professional wedding photographer, and as a professional photographer in general. My main objective was to show that beautiful portraits can be taken anywhere with very little equipment. A lot of us get wrapped up in our tools and need to be reminded that good quality directional light is priceless compared to a bunch of “stuff”. The participants were more than interactive and asked great questions. I hope that they got as much out of it as I did. I would like to thank Erin Foster of Irish Eyes Photography for hosting the event, for her enthusiasm and also for briefly loaning us her adorable baby daughter to model for us. Also thank you to our beautiful models Tiffany and Nicole who braved the frigid temperatures and didn’t complain a bit. I give workshops based on demand, so the next one will be when folks ask. Here are a few images from the workshop. Be sure to “Like” Spencer Photography Inc. on Facebook.
Craig and Christina’s Ohio Stadium Photo Session
The main reason that I do engagement sessions, other than to get to know the couple better, is to get them comfortable in front of the camera. So what do we do? We schedule a session at one of the most intimidating locations on the planet (the freakin’ Shoe!!) Yesterday, I had the distinct honor to have Craig and Christina’s engagement session at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. This was very exciting for me, not only because I had never been inside, but also because we were able to go onto the field. The sun posed a bit of a challenge, but my little 580 handled that (photo geek terminology). It was great to get to spend time with Craig and Christina and they are another example of why I have the BEST clients on the planet!! I will, most likely, post a few more images that we took around the campus of the Ohio State University. But the images from Ohio Stadium had to be posted on their own. Michael and Kristen’s East Fourth Street Bridal Session
I had the chance to get an awesome couple back in their wedding attire and do a wedding photography session on East 4th Street in downtown Cleveland (a very popular spot for wedding photography in Cleveland ). Michael and Kristen had their wedding and reception last year at the Portage Country Club in Akron, Ohio. They were awesome then, and they were awesome for this photo session. I just wanted to get a great image of a bride and groom and East 4th Street and this night was perfect for photography. A fairly clear evening; a few puddles; a great couple and that was that.
We were right across from the House of Blues Cleveland. Here are a couple of images:
Karan and Cara’s Brandywine Falls photography session
On Sunday, I met with Karan and Cara for their engagement session, which we do with every one of our bridal clients. I will be Karan and Cara’s wedding photographer in June when they will be getting married at Wade Oval Park in Cleveland with their reception following at the ballroom at the Cleveland Marriott at Key Center ( I can’t wait!). It was a cold, windy and somewhat rainy day. But that didn’t slow Karan and Cara down one bit (that is one of the reasons why my clients are AWESOME!). We met at Brandywine Falls in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park system here in northeast Ohio (a true gem of the area). As our outstanding luck would have it, as we pulled into the parking lot, there was a group of classic car enthusiasts there. What a stroke of luck!! They let us use their beautiful vehicles as a backdrop for a few images. Here a just a few. Be sure to leave a comment for Karan and Cara below.
Patrick and Laura’s North Ridgeville Photography Session
On Sunday, Laura and Patrick had the AWESOME idea to take a vintage T-Bird, and have a session at the Aut-O-Rama Drive-In in North Ridgeville, Ohio. How crazy great is that??!! My mind was going crazy with ideas and ways of lighting them and the car. The first half of the session we were lucky that we had perfect weather and a perfect sun setting. So we just pointed the car in the right direction and went to work. Once the sun went down completely, we turned on the headlights and some alternative light sources and continued on. After almost getting ran over by a car (literally, I was laying on the ground, like I LOVE to do when photographing) we ended the day with some images that I am proud of. I will be Patrick and Laura’s wedding photographer this June at Caro’s in Medina. Thank you to Laura’s mom and brother for helping with the T-Bird as well as Nicki from Aut-O-Rama for letting us use their facility. Thanks also to Katy Rex for her assistance during the session. Here are a few images from the session. Be sure to show Patrick and Laura some love by leaving a comment below. AND BE SURE TO “LIKE” SPENCER PHOTOGRAPHY ON FACEBOOK!

Brandon and Rachelle’s Cleveland Photography session
Sunday I met Brandon and Rachelle in downtown Cleveland for their engagement session. I first met them thru my assistant, Renee, who photographed their actual engagement (I assisted) at the Outback Steakhouse where Brandon surprised Rachelle by proposing (see it -here-). Since both Brandon and Rachelle are from out of state (they will be getting married in Rachelle’s home town in Arizona) they wanted their images to reflect, distinctly, the town in which they live…CLE. We were in front of Progressive Field, we went to Key Center, Voinovich Park behind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame among other spots. We tried to go to most of the “iconic” spots and ended up in some area’s in between (homeless guys yelling under a bridge comes to mind!) I know that I had fun with them and they were exactly my type of client (see pizza, below). Their wedding day should be a blast. Here are a few images from their session. Be sure to show them some love by leaving a comment below. BE SURE TO “LIKE” SPENCER PHOTOGRAPHY ON FACEBOOK!
